Psychiatric Evaluation

therapist talking with client

A psychiatric evaluation is a careful, respectful assessment designed to help us understand each client’s needs, strengths, symptoms, history, and goals. This may include medical, psychological, social, family, and cultural information to guide treatment planning.

During the evaluation, a licensed clinician listens to the client’s story, asks about current symptoms, daily functioning, past treatment, medication history, substance use concerns, and what has or has not helped before. Screening tools may be used, but the heart of the evaluation is a clear and compassionate conversation.

The outcome is a treatment plan that may include therapy, medication management, PRP, IOP, case management, lifestyle support, referrals, or coordination with other providers. Recommendations are explained in clear language so clients and families can participate actively in care decisions.
